quite a while to fix all of
them - change the water, etc. 
     Yesterday I made a very
large bottle full of apple 
sauce. This same neighbor
has apples going to waste 
under the trees. This year Mrs. 
Smith has almost none. So 
I went over and picked up a 
lot of little, railroady spe-
cimens, washed them thoroughly, 
quartered them, cut out the 
bad places and cooked them 
until soft, then strained the 
pulp and juice out. I didn't 
press very hard as I didn't 
want any of the skin or little 
hard particles to go through 
the sieve. Then I sweetened
