Dear Folks, I sent a little parcel to you last night. I hope you get it in a day or so, for I put in a box of stuffed dates for Mr. Holmes, and he ought to open up the box and begin to eat them as soon as possible. They may be very sticky. If so, I thought perhaps Mrs. Osborne would wrap them off the papers carefully and put them in a covered vegetable dish for him. He could eat them with a spoon if too sticky to eat with his fingers. 
I wish I could have sent you all something very nice indeed; but I did not seem to know what you would like, so I sent something to you, ma, that I think ought to make you comfortable. Mine are a comfort to me. I also enclosed a little gift for Mrs. Osborne in memory of the good care she is taking
