1863 Saturday, January 4. I am reading Macauley's History of England, and Lamartines History of the Girondists [next page] 1863 Sunday, January 5 I attended on last Sunday the N.E. Church and heard a fine sermon. This afternoon I got to Mr. Gomes' Church the sermon was horrible. After Emily and I went to Mrs. Hayden, we took tea there. Mr. Chas Lennox came there for me, and we went to Church at the Boston Theatre. Rev. Ed Everett Hale "The good that I would I do not but the evil that I would not that I do." I was instructed and thought of the grand intellectual development for generations through this family, and compared.
