Tuesday, January 28.
Today a letter from Moyer and [[?]] for Dickens' Reading. Immediately answered and gave him an account of my visit to the great Wendell. In the afternoon L. came I was angry with him for not going with me but he made an explanation.

Wednesday, January 29.
I went out today for the slippers for Green. Very cold [[?]] went to Higginsons for fried oysters and coffee. In afternoon began it while Leed was here. He brought Mr John M. Brown to see me. I was [[strikethrough]] quite [[/strikethrough]] favorably impressed with Mr B though prior to our meeting. It was L's fault from the first.
