Tuesday, March 24.

Clear but terribly muddy. Went to Publisher's today, after to Studio Building to Miss Troten's about the School. I afterwards went to Mr Ware's house or at Dr Bowdeutche's & was shown into a handsome Library. No visiters called I wrote to Leedie to day in answer to his very thoughtful one occasioned by the storm in which he supposed I was.

Wednesday, March 25.

Clear and beautiful overhead went to Chelsea. On my way saw Mr Phillips he rode on the platform of the same car wherein I sat. In afternoon I went to his house he greeted me so kindly, we conversed a long while about my prospects in the literary world and on leaving he gave me a copy of his speeches which is as precious to me as the apple of my eyes. God bless the great hearted Kingly Phillips give him length of days and strength to continue steadfast to the end. Peace within thy palaces, plenty within thy walls. Mrs Robt Morris called during my absence.
