Monday, May 11.
At home feeling alright. Went to Dr. Birmingham. Will not go out until Friday to his house. Went to the State House to the Secretary of State. Had a pleasant chat with him concerning affairs generally He gave me a poem from Punch on Lincoln to read. 

He read the Lock Haven article concerning Katie or the Rollin family School 

Wrote in the Library

Nells Brown spent the morning with me.

Writing at the State House still. [[strikethrough]] Was at Birmingham to know about the Sewell matter. Tracy at [[/strikethrough]] Feeling very low spirit about the Book matter received a letter this evening from Major sent the money to Lee & Shephard
