Monday, July 6.

Went to the Doctor's this morning as it was quite pleasant Enjoyed my walk. I Imagine P. left today for his vacation Seeing a Chelsea car looking cool and inviting I entered and went there without a moments thoughts. Mrs Spenser was moving out. I heard her history today. I am being fast convinced that our men prefer that class of women to respectable virtuous ones. I reached home about six after wen to Mr Hayden's and sat a little while there.

Letter from Mr Ezekial today Mr Baker brought me the proofs in the Afternoon went there and we had a time about the Dedication I never did approve of it but Major D. insisted. I suppose we will have a fuss about it anyhow Mr Lee gave me Queen Victoria's book. Went to Addie Howard's and staid a while with her. In Eve went home. Went to walk with Jim and Anna Maria on the Bridge. Matthews was at [[?]] when we returned. We differed as usual. Whipper was not chosen speaker as I expected.
