I called Daisy up Monday night and invited her and Oren and Laura, if she wanted to come, down to play cards, and as D. planned to come Laura had to own up to a surprise party she had in store for her, so she did not come until Tuesday. I made fudge then, so you see I am making up for all the sweet things I went without during the sugar shortage.

It happened that Oren went over to see D. Monday night although he had forgotten all about its being her birthday.

I heard to-day that it had been decided that we were to have our two months' vacation. They begin in April and run through August. I should like August so suppose I shall have to take either April, May, or June for the other month as Miss Anselm said that Miss L. said half the force was to be on during the summer. As there are five of us I am wondering which of us is going to consent to being divided. I should like to go on to New York and Washington during the spring if I could and the weather is agreeable.
