Dear Folks

The cold it is a good sunny day. the thermometer registered 4 above zero at eight O'clock. these still days we don't realize such weather very much. the weather report says snow tonight.

I have today finished the last night dress and with the two slips have them done up in a bundle, ready to send off so you may get them by the last of the week if I have a chance.

Arthur Dykeman came up Monday with my tubes, so I had a chance to give him the check. he made me quite a long call + [[and]] told me the news + [[and]] took down the two letters in the doors I had waiting for Old Sorce Crout. he said Frank Ripley died of another shock. his wife was hateful to him. she wanted to get rid of him he did not know much. fits took away what little intellect he ever was born with. guess he was lucky to die at last. she has a daughter living in Brockton. so Mike said. Our neighbors are going to ride Gertrude has the holiday she is very jolly, so different from Addie, she is very smart. I hope she gets married. her mother would have more money to keep her single + [[and]] that is what she wants, she is greedy. I never see Dennis these days. but presume he is taking good care of himself as he always has. he would be better off to go with the crowd.
