Memorandum of an agreement
between Sarah A Brooks of
the 1st part, and  the undersigned laborers
of the 2nd part, witnesseth that the
said Brooks, for and in consideration of
the labor and services of the said laborers
to the 1st of January 1866 on her
plantation in Lowndes County in the
cultivation of the crops on said plantation
& other labor useful to said plantation
& when not needed on said plantation [strikethrough - in making repairs on her plantation in Noxube County] 
bargains, & agrees to pay them, the said laborers, one fifth part of the crop of corn, peas, and sorghum when gathered, to be divided among them according to classification, & also to furnish them food, fuel, horses, clothing, and medical attendance and treat them humanely.
And the said laborers on their part in
consideration thereof bargains & agrees to labor
