Dear Folks
The wind has turned into the South but the radio says a cold waive is on its way by night. we had a light snow during the night and a few flakes this forenoon, but now the sun is faintly shining out. the oil man wallowed his way into the yard from Ballentines, where he left some oil also, so now we can keep warm for a week or more as it depends on the weather some. I hope February will be warmer. Sunday was about as cold a day as we have ever had. but very sunny & still, but on going to the door, we realized it was cold. he came near freezing his ears standing on the ladder trying to thaw out the ice on the roof. He did not ask me much for doing it only a dollar but I paid him more than that. as he came up twice & I thought I had rather economize on something else than to half pay a man to risk

Transcription Notes:
Not sure about the [[?]] near the end - The word is "twice".
