has offered her a home - she is paralyzed one side of her and sores are coming now on her. They think she is near her end the Faxons are good to her she has no money so there is not much for her to live for a pity she cannot go.

Soper says he is going to see what he can do for Mauds eye yesterday she went in town to have it treated it don't seem to respond to their treatments (pretty expensive probably.) Dr. Ewing says it will never be any better & I am afraid he is right, but hope not. an eye is a serious thing to do much for. mine bother but may last as long as the rest of me I hope. I think after this storm it will grow colder. we certainly have had a wonderful Indian summer. Irma has a lady friend she works in the bank with her, the daughter of a retired sea captain she came out here to live with her and they are very much in love with each other call each other "Honey". Jack would not listen to her coming here to live with them, but Irma told him she was running the house, & it was not any of his business. so he had to give into her. Soper says she is as tall as Irma is short, they look queer together. folks are talking about them we hear. before she came here Irma would ride in town after supper & stay with her & would not get home till midnight & that would worry Jack for fear she might meat with foul play all alone at that time of night. so that is at an end hope they fix things up somehow. they are unhappy and guess they always will be.
