WHO'S WHO IN THE CAST

E. DAVID COSIER, JR (Set Designer) has been with this production since its premiere at YAle Rep. His other work includes designs for NBC's "Saturday Night Live" and "House Party," the U.S. premiere of Antonio Buero-Yallejo's The Foundation at Theatre for the New City, The Rothschilds for American Jewish Theatre and Social Security at Indiana Rep.

CHRISTOPHER AKERLIND (Lighting Designer) designed the original production of The Piano Lesson at the Yale Repertory Theatre, as well as Exact Change and John Hirsch's production of The Alchemist. A graduate of the Yale School of Drama, he designed the lighting for over 40 productions for the school and for the Yale Cabaret. Mr. Akerlind is currently the resident lighting designer for the Hartford Ballet Company. Regionally, his work has been seen at the Goodman Theatre, the Huntington Theatre Company, the Old Globe Theatre, the Portland Stage Company and the McCarter Theatre. 

COSTANZA ROMERO(Costume Designer) was the original designer for YRT, as well as the Goodman, Huntington and Old Globe Theatre productions, A graduate of the Yale School of Drama, she recently returned to design Trolius and Cressida. She designed A Streetcar Named Desire and Ma Rainey's Black Bottom at the GeVa Theatre. At the Milwaukee Repertory she designed Fences. For the Cucaracha Theatre she designed the set for Indiana Dog. 

DWIGHT D. ANDREWS (Musical Director/Composer) served as the musical director for all the productions of The Piano Lesson, Joe Turner's Come and Gone, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and Fences. From 1979 to 1986, he was the resident musical director for the YRT, where his credits included The Resurrection of Lady Lester and The Blood Knot.

Other theatre credits include James Lapine's Obie Award-winning Photograph, and the NYC Opera premiere of X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X. Mr. Andrews is on the faculty of Emory University in Atlanta. 

G. THOMAS CLARK (Sound Designer) serves as Sound Consultant for Lily Tomlin's The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in teh Universe. he designed Lee Blessing's A Walk in the Woods for the Yale Rep, La Jolla Playhouse, Broadway, Soviet and Lithuanian productions. He has provided over 25 designs for the YRT, The Whole Theatre, Denver Ceneter Theatre and has served on the faculty of the Yale School of Drama and Rutgers University. 

KAREN L. CARPENTER (Production Stage Manager) has stage-managed for regional theatres across the country. The Piano Lesson marks her second collaboration with Lloyd Richards and August Wilson. Her first was as PSM for Joe Turner's Come and Gone on Broadway and on tour. More recently, she stage-managed Closer Than Ever by Maltby and Shire at Williamstown Theatre Festival. Ms. Carpenter has served on the stage management faculty of the Yale School of Drama. 

LAUREL ANN WILSON (General Manager) has general managed numerous Broadway shows, starting with the 1976 revival of Guys and Dolls and the 1977 production of The Basic Training of Pablo Hummel starring Al Pacino. She was the General Manager of the New York Shakespeare festival for four years, during which time the Festival's Broadway shows included A Chorus Line, The Human Comedy, Drood and Cuba and His Teddy Bear, starring Robert DeNiro. Her most recent projects were Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner's The Search for Signs... on tour and the revival of Miss Margarida's Way starring Estelle Parsons.
