WHO'S WHO in the CAST
EARTHA KITT (Sahleem-La-Lume) is an international star whose electrifying career has spanned theatre, films, nightclubs, television and recordings--all with equal distinction. Ms. Kitt first appeared as a featured dancer and vocalist with the famed Katherine Dunham Troupe. This led to numerous engagements at Europe's finest supper clubs, where, one of her admirers, Orson Welles, called her "the most exciting woman in the world." Welles signed her to co-star with him in a stage production of Dr. Faust, which opened in Paris and toured Europe. Returning to America, Ms. Kitt played for 25 consecutive weeks at the Blue Angel, then the Village Vanguard where producer Leonard Sillman saw her and cast her in New Faces of 1952. Her performance of "Monotonous" stopped the show for a year on Broadway, a national tour, and then the Twentieth Century-Fox film. Broadway stardom led to a recording contract, a succession of best-selling records, and a Grammy nomination. More nightclub triumphs followed, then her return to Broadway in the straight dramatic play, Mrs. Patterson for which Ms. Kitt received a Tony Award nomination. Her other stage appearances include Shinbone Alley, the musical version of archy and mehitabel, The Skin of Our Teeth and The Owl and
the Pussycat. Besides New Faces, Ms. Kitt graced the films The Mark of the Hawk, St. Louis Blues and Anna Lucasta, for which she received an Oscar nomina- tion. Her television work ranges from the Omnibus presentation of "Salome" to guest appearances on "Mission Impossible", "I Spy" for which she got an Emmy Award nomination, and "Batman," in which Ms. Kitt was the infamous Cat Woman. Among her recent triumphs were a
concert at Carnegie Hall, an international nightclub tour, two London stage successes, Bunny and The High Bid, and a best-selling autobiography Alone With Me. During her illustrious career, she has performed for royalty and heads of state throughout the world and entertained in 104 countries. Ms. Kitt and her 16-year-old daughter Kitt, make their home in Beverly Hills, where they proudly maintain a year-round garden.

MELBA MOORE (Marsinah) achieved Broadway stardom when she won the Tony, New York Drama Critics' and Drama Desk Awards for her dazzling performance in the musical Purlie. Her road to the head of the theatrical profession included teaching, back-up singing and nightclub performing, when she auditioned for the musical Hair. Within a year and a half Ms. Moore had worked her way up from the chorus to the leading role of Sheila, becoming the first black actress ever to play that part. Aside from her work in the theatre, Ms. Moore has guest-starred on numerous television programs, starred in her own summer series, and won accolades for her sensitive portrayal of Harriet Tubman on the ABC-TV Special "The American Woman: Portraits of Courage." Ms. Moore is also the spokesperson and musical consultant for the "Big Blue Marble," ITT's Emmy and Peabody Award-winning series for children. Ms. Moore's recording career has been no less spectacular: Peach Melba, Melba, This Is It, including the Grammy nominated Lean on Me, and the just-released A Portrait of Melba. In concert she has performed at the Olympia in Paris, and in America with the Detroit, Pittsburgh, Richmond and Syracuse Symphony Orchestras. On December
