Dear Doris

we got the card Friday saying you were to start North.  sorry you had such rainy weather but glad it were no worse.  Sickness for instance + tornadoes.  we are shure of nothing these days.  we are having cold + rainy weather this week only one pleasant day.  I am making me an under petticoat out of Pa's night shirt isn't it Old fashioned?  but the papers say that petticoats are coming in style again. so there you are.  I dont stand for style but believe in sense + comfort.  there is not much to write about every one is going to church these days but me. she is not going to sing as they did not ask her in time to practice her piece.  she hates to sing anthems. solos are her hobbies  - nature is fast coming ahead this year the daffodills are blossoming + wish you might see them.  forcythias are out there dont seem to be buds on the redbud yet. my rosebush (scotch) is coming right ahead under the kitchen window. all the chrysanthemums we set out beside the little building survived the cold winter they were protected by the deep snow banks.  the little robin
