Stoughton March 5th 1936

Dear Folks,

It cleared in the night & today the wind has been out of the cold quarter & it has melted the snow a lot. the crowd have been up to Laura's to dinner & playing cards all the afternoon, she got home after supper & had a light lunch Nellie was not invited, she is down with a cold, they only have her because they pity her she cant see very well & dont play a good game of cards. if it were not for their invitation she would not go any where. she is 79 years old & it would be mercy for her to retire. she is to be pitied nobody wants her. Mrs Barry takes her to the movies & calls her up on the phone every day to cheer her up. she even asks her about religion & tries to prepare for a better life, she knows her life has been selfish & is afraid to die poor thing. Laura sent word that she was going to take me to ride just as soon as the going gets decent & will take me where ever I would like to go. because I let Blanch go with them anytime they ask for her except nights. she is the life of their party always. every body wants her you would be surprised church or every social affair its just the same they rush for her & meet her with out
