Mrs Barry has just telephoned from Brocton that Phoeby Hills car has broken down & that they are waiting up there to have it fixed before coming home. it is just eigh O'clock, for me not to worry as they will come home as soon as they get it fixed. its an old car. hope no one is hurt. the third time never fails, so what will happen next. darn these trips in such weather & going 10° above more snow is coming tomorrow so the paper says & warmer.

Dear Doris

Your letter came this noon. I am sure you are more faithful in writing than I am, so theres nothing for me to complain about. I am making patchwork there are a lot of pretty pieces in that bundle that you sent. its fun to arrange them in squares. I dont need the cotton or wool as I am covering the quilt on my bed that Aunt Jane sent down to Grandma, very nice & light inside, but poor covering also dirty. I am going to let Careta have one I made for three dollars, in the closet, as there are so many. she has shared so much with us. Mrs Barry & I have planned that a fair price, she wants one so badly. the poor girl has no one to do such work for her but she will come into money later on, through Mardens family. she is a hopeless wreck with that back strain from lifting her mother in her last sickness.

Mrs Barry got home Sunday night from PJ Sullivans safe after being stalled on the ice an hour down to Mattipan they happened to creep slowly along. landing just in front of a sandbox & an officer spread around them sand enough to enable them to get started. fifty more cars were waiting there going round
