with him & Dr W O Faxon has him out here a great deal they were both senators & well acquainted always. he was crazy to marry Mrs Barry but he is a catholic although that was not it. even the Priest begged her to marry him. but she did not want him. he is a highly educated man, all his children the same, a large family. some catholics & some congregationalists. his late wife was congregational. a very fine man everybody thinks. I am in hopes they get home all safe. she told me not to worry. Laura has an up to date car & she is a good driver & used to long trips. she is very greatful to her for getting the position for her nephew. he is a skillful engineer I have just got in the last of my clothes, off the piazza and swept off the snow. I guess some paths will have to be made tomorrow morning. its coming thick & fast now. dont I hate it. winter at last. but it wont last forever. I am keeping my heat down this weather & its warm enough for me I dont like hot rooms & a good fire in my kitchen range is sufficient to day. writing letters gives me something to do so I dont feel lonesome I am looking forward to her coming home & telling me all about her visit. she is very entertaining & nice to me always. Nellie Standish has just called up on the phone for Mrs Barry, she cheers her up. she says it is good to have someone to talk with her for she is alone & no one to speak to. her eyes bother her & it is good of me to talk to her.
