Dear Doris

We have had the last of that cold spell graduly [[gradually]] and yesterday all day it moderated & our snowy feeling air turned to rain & poured all night with an east wind gale force, but to day its mild & may clear later on.

I finished the nighties & she went to the movies on purpose to tale Nellie Standish poor thing her sons wife treats her terribly, so she is about losing her mind. she cries all the time, she nocked [[knocked]] her down on the floor & bruised her arm so it was all black & blue, because she came down later for her dinner after it had been cleared away & started to get something to eat out of the ice box. it made Lottie mad she had to get her dinner at the cafeteria downtown just think when she pays her way. she is fast losing her mind & then they wont hesitate to send her to the mad house. Lareta was here last night she wanted her to take her there for a few weeks but it wouldnt be pleasant & she dont feel like interfering with Lottie who hates her as it is. it gave Mrs Barry a headache & she cried when she came home & told me about it. they all pity Nellie but its a case where no one can do anything
