rooms & still hold onto the place. she seems full of her schemes. whether they come out as she expects is doubtful, it remains to be seen. I do hope she does not bring in my name too prominent in her advertising, for as every body knows I am modest & retiring always & now in my old age, I dont want to be blazened [[blazoned]] before the out side world, however much she may worship me. a good woman but she has mighty foolish ideas, we think & is very tiresome to talk with. Have you received any card or word from Lena since she went south? I imagine we wont hear much 'till after she strikes something to do & then as you know, she is close mouthed about tellin [[telling]] her business I hope she finds that land she bought & paid $500. for so foolishly. Bill was lucky with his house to sell it. when he went down to Florida last winter. I dare say he lost out, for a man was letting it as his own & confiscating the rent money. so Bill looked up the man he bought the land of, to get his legal right to the same + went ahead, no flies on him. The Bruces are all right honest. they mean to pay, but darn the old woman she is nasty nice Mrs. Bruce is good. I dont believe she likes Old Marm McGarvey so lets her alone, Mrs Barry is enough for her. she flew out at the children who were going through our backyard in defiance of me, when I tried to stop them, it was a good laugh to see them scatter. they havent [[haven't]] been going through since. she knows how & they take notice it scares them. our couch cover I made out of your old one. we are proud of it. looks very fine & matches the rug.
