Stoughton July 9th 1936
Dear Folks

We are having it warmer yesterday the temperature was at 90 degrees in our sitting room & we had a thunder shower towards morning with lots of rain. its cooler today. I am sweating as I write the letter. June was a cool month here. in the west they are having it awful hot, with terrible dust storms & grasshoppers. we may have something as bad here next.
Mamie Kate has had another one of her spells but is much better Myrtie says. she called up Mrs Barry this morning she is very humble these days with us, guess finds her other attitude does'nt pay. I guess her tongue is hard to control & we should be lenient. I am willing to make allowances, we are none of us perfect. Jealousy is a horrid element to conquer & there are many who are afflicted. & therefore are made to suffer from having it in thire make up. I try to have good thoughts towards every body. you feel better. my mothers folks were that way all of them & were respected by being so. but fathers people were different Sall Elisha & Uunice Monk & Alfieus French. they all made trouble in the family. being such fathers folks had nothing to do with them. Myrtie I am sure is like them. I feel sorry for her as towns people are down on her.

had trouble with some of the names near the bottom. I don't recall these names in any of her other letters so I did my best
