Dear Folks
The day has opened up pleasant & cool our prevailing wind this summer seems to come from the West & Northwest thus far we are having a cool summer & a fire in the kitchen does not seem out of place. we have promises of showers but thus far they have not come perhaps this month we may get then.
yesterday was a rather quiet fourth. it was her birth day.
that cake that the Taunton girls brought to her, has lasted. it was a large one trimmed with chocolate & a masterpiece. I think Mamie Kate should be ashamed she never gives her anything. & is jealous if others do.

Careta Marden is pretty busy these times between the two houses. the grandchild is left with one hundren thousand dollars Careta is her guardian, she is only 16 years of age. to her mother, Judge Marden left a trust fund for her when he died. the little girl Barbera is left with all the rest in the old womans will. after the funeral Lareta gave Mrs Thayer who had been with them since Judge Marden died, her walking ticket there was a scene she screamed & made a great hugh & cry
