Upon your suggestion I hired a school house built to be paid for out of the amount you promised to pay as rent and opened school on the 8th of March but owing to the large amount of bad weather we have had I have had only a small school so far (only 18 pupils) but as the weather improves and the people get threw planting cornI think I will have a pretty fare country school Col I have a great many disadvantages to labor under the farmer made but a poor crop of corn in this county last year and I care not how much the amount or price of cotton.
