Agreement with Freedmen

This agreement made this 8th day of August AD 1865 by & between Larkin Gambrill of the County of [[strikethrough]] Itawamba [[/strikethrough]] Pontotoc & State of Miss. of the first part & the persons herein after named & undersigned Freedmen of the Same place parties hereto of the Second part Wiley, Billy, Clay, & Sindy.
Witnessth that for the purpose of Cultivating the farm owned by the said L Gambrill in the County aforesaid during the year commensing on the [[blank]] day of [[blank]] 1865 & terminating on the 1st day of January 1866. The Said Larkin Gambrill party of the first part in consideration of the promises & conditions herein after mentioned on the part of the parties of the Second part; agrees to furnish to the said laborers & those rightfully dependent on them Free of charge, clothing & food of good quality and sufficient quatity [[quantities]], good & sufficient quarters; medical attendance when necessary & kind & humane treatment & one tenth of the corn & their corn paches [[patches]] & it is further agreed that in case the said L Gambrill shall fail neglect or refuse to fulfil [[fulfill]] any of the obligations assumed by him or shall furnish said parties
