Articles of Agreement made and concluded this 2nd day of January 1866 by and between Burwell Scott of the first part and Tempe Diggs $6 Kitty Diggs $12 Sally Diggs $10 Elmina Mills $10 Annie Watkins & Henderson, her child $13 Chainey Mills $6 Frank Williams $15 Adeline Williams $6 Laura Smith $8 Jordan Diggs $15 Milly Diggs $8 Henry Smith $12 Anderson Smith $15 freedman of the second part, whereby it is agreed and covenanted as follows: For and in consideration of the payments hereinafter agreed to be paid, and said ___ freedman agree[[strikethrough]]s[[/strikethrough]] and binds himself to work as a plantation laborer from 1st January 1866 to 1st January 1867, on the plantation of the said Scott in Yazoo County Mississippi. He agrees and binds himself to render to said party of the first part during the period of one year, as before stated, respectful, obedient and faithful labor; from [[strikethrough]] sun rise [[/strikethrough]] daylight until [[strikethrough]] sun set [[/strikethrough]] dark, each day under such plantation regulations as the party of the first part shall make, not inconsistent with the provisions of this contract or the rules and regulations of the freedman's bureau.

In consideration of the faithful performance of his contract by the said   freedman, party of the second part, the said Scott party of the first part offers and binds himself to pay to said Tempe D. $6 K.D $12 S.D $10 EM $10 AW & her child $13 C.M $6 F.W. $15 A.W $16 L.S. $18 J.D $15 MD $8 H.S $12 $ AS $15 freedman at the rate of $  per month, with rations of 4 pounds of meat, 1 peck of meal, [[strikethrough]] 1 pint of molasses [[/strikethrough]] and  pounds of salt per week. [[strikethrough]] One of [[/strikethrough]] said wages to be paid [[strikethrough]] quarterly on 1st of April, 1st of July, 1st of October 1866, and the remainder [[/strikethrough]] on or before the 1st of January 1867. The said Scott party of the first part, agrees to furnish the said party of the second part free of charge, during his continuauce [[continuance]] to labor, good and sufficient quarters and fuel. He also agrees to keep constantly on hand meat, meal, [[strikethrough]] molasses [[/strikethrough]] and salt, which he binds himself to furnish to said freedman, in such quantities as he may need for his own use, at [[strikethrough]] a [[/strikethrough]] market price not [[strikethrough]] exceeding the cost to the party of the first part. There shall be no labor required of said freedman from 12 M Saturday until Monday morning, except the care of stock and other necessary labor, except in cases of emergency, said emergency to be determined by said Scott when such labor is performed, the same amount of time is to be given afterwards

It is further agreed, that in case the party of the first part shall fall, neglect or refuse to comply with any of the obligations assumed to said  freedman, or shall be guilty of cruelty to him, this contract shall be considered liable to annulment in addition to legal remedies left to said freedman. And in case the said freedman shall voluntarily absent himself from or shall neglect or refuse to perform the labor herein contracted for, the said Scott party of the
