The Site of Mississippi,
Holmes County, 

The undersigned Freedman, Joseph Hooker, with his wife Harriet and child Fanny, Promise and agree to work and labor for M.P. Cartwright on his farm for and during the year 1866. we are to work for him faithfully, observe his orders and instructions, and conduct ourselves orderly upon his premises without loss of time, unless from sickness.

He said M.P. Cartwright agrees to feed and clothe said family, usual quality and quantity, pay their taxes and medical bill, and all other expenses and pay to said Joseph for work, of himself and wife one hundred and seventy dollars on the 25th day of December 1866,
