Agreement made this 15th day of January A.D. 1866 by and between Mrs S. A. Walker of Lauderdale County State of Mississippi, of the first part and the undersigned freedmen of the county and state of aforesaid, of the second part. Witnesseth

That for the purpose of cultivating of the plantation know as the Walker plantation, during the year commencing on the first of January A.D. 1866, the said Mrs S A Walker, party of the first part, in consideration of the promises and conditions hereinafter mentioned on the part of the party of the second part, agrees to furnish to the said party of the second part and there rightfully dependent upon him, free of charge, food and clothing of good quality and sufficient quantity, good and sufficient quarters, and kind and humane treatment

And it is further agreed [[strikethrough]] that [[/strikethrough]] that the said Mrs S. A. Walker is to pay the said party of the second part one hundred and fifty dollars, for his services and the services of his Wife

And it is further agreed, that if the said Mrs S. A. Walker shall fail neglect or refuse to fulfill any of the obligations assumed by her, or be guilty of cruelty to him or his dependents, she shall besides the legal recourse left to the party or parties aggrieved render this contract liable to annulment by the proper Officer,

And it is agreed on the part of the party of the second part, that he and his wife will each well and faithfully perform such labor as the said Mrs S. A. Walker may require of them for the time aforesaid, and in case any laborer shall voluntarely absent themselves
