Copy of Contract Near Chocktaw Agency Oktibbeha Co. Miss Apr. 27, 1867 Contract between the freedmen below named of the first part, and Moses Ruckman and H.V. Sherfy of the second part for the cultivation of the farm belonging to the latter for the year 1867. The party of the first part agrees to cultivate said farm and do good and faithful work. They agree to not loose or idle any time unnessarily when their work is needed. They agree to take good care of all tools, plows, hoes, axes &c. that is put in their care. They agree to feed and water the stock and tak good care of same. They farther agree to work according to the direction of th party of the second part. The party of the second agrees to pay to the party of the first part for their labor on said farm one third of the corn and fodder and one fourth of the cotton or other crops cultivated by them. They farther agree to furnish the team, plows, hoes, axes &c. and keep all tools in proper order. They farther agree to furnish three and one half pounds of meat and one peck of meal to each full hand and feed for the team. H.V. Sherbfy Moses X Ruckman
