54 Little Rock Ark. May 15th 1868 #78 Morgan Capt. Wm. Agent B.R.F. and A.L. Dardanelle Ark. Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of yours of the 11th May. Am sorry that I have no first readers. I sent a School Register prepared by the Bureau and twenty-five (25) copies each of the "Freedman" for the months of November and December '67. If you will organize a Sabbath School and report date of organization, name of Superintendent, number of teachers and pupils I will furnish some elementary books for it which may also be used in the day or night School. Am not authorized to furnish them direct to the day School. I can send a small quantity of Second readers if you desire them (by mail) and will order from the Secretary of the Tract Society at Chicago a supply of Spelling books and First readers. You will observe the alphabet and easy lessons in the copies of the "Freedman" sent you, with which a very good beginning may be made. Can send more of the Same numbers if you desire them.
