Jany 11th 70

Genl C. H. Howard
Chicago Ill.

General:

I am in receipt of yours of the 6th on receiving Maj. Clark's letter from Pine Bluff you may think it best to send Mr. & Mrs. Hughes there.

Helena needs a man this term possessing great Independence, worth, and a large amount of push; the two forms of which I think Mrs. H. possesses. Ark. needs Mr. & Mrs. Hughes service somewhere I am sure. I will inquire of Supts now in session here.

Respectfully,
Wm M. Colby.
