with the best commissioners was given limited however to the months of Nov. & Dec. 1868. Upon this condition Mr. Lyman went forward, and has succeeded in building up one of the best schools in the state without any expense to this department, and but a small outlay by the Amer. Miss Assocn since January 1869.

I respectfully request that the amount paid for two months services be paid out of the funds in the hands of Col Page D.O. which were sent from the "Treasurer" in past payments for the building at the orphan Asylum, or otherwise, as the Commissioner may direct:
