Evidence of Defendent.
Thomson Walker a citizen of Rockingham county State of North Carolina. 
After being duly sworn Deposeth and Says, I have known J.H. Simpson for several years and I regards him as being a Gentleman and never knew him to get into any trouble with any person, 

Evidence of Rev. Mr. Thompson Testifies as follow I have known J.H. Simpson for Several Years and regard him as being a good citizen. I have not known him to get into trouble before with any person. I have heard Several charges made against Enalds. but know nothing out of the way myself. 

Evidence for Defendent. 
T.W. Busick. being duly Sworn Deposeth and Says, that Enalds told him that J.H. Simpson had come to his house and atempt to rob him. I thought it wrong for Such to be said about any person. So I sent Mr. Simpson word he being a high Spirited man but an honorable man, was very much insulted at this.
