Stoughton February 9th 1939

Dear Folks
 
We have had a big snow storm, it came Tuesday night & all day yesterday, turning into rain in the afternoon. which made the snow crusty. I got my paths made for a quarter after sweeping down the front walk early in the morning for the postman.
 
Mr. McKay made us a call this forenoon to thank me for letting his tennants in the attic get water during the freeze up which he says was due to their digging over accross the way & leaving the pipe bare during the fridgid weather. they had the first of the week. 
 
He has lost his interest in the house he says it has not paid him, he has lost so much on his rents & he only earns but $10. a week, so has been unable to pay the taxes & he dont care whether he loses it or not. he is too old a man to be so bothered. he has high blood pressure & its hard work to get up here to see to things. he has been shovelling paths to get into the house they have managed to get the water to running & means to keep it running for a while down cellar during the cold weather if nothing
