Dear Folks

Another zero morning & wind blew a gale all night. I managed to get to sleep after midnight but was aware of the winter weather through the night, the snow that came the night before was light, so when the wind came it blew our carfully swept paths & filled them all up. but we got our mail, before the wind started.

The men worked all day on the stand pipe hill, in spite of the terrible gale, but they are not there today. they are the lazyest crowd one cares to see, they dont work half of their time, but draw their pay just the same. they make fun of [[?]] because he works, he belongs to the WPA but give the devil his due, he is a good worker, he cheats in other ways.

Lena's letter arrived yesterday morning. it sounds lonesome, it seems that she had nothing in view & is still cold, hope she finds a place that suites her, sometimes she never has yet & gets sick of things very quickly. as she grows older she will get worse a pity she never took to men
