speak for hours. the Dykemans sent me a most beautiful poinsetter [[poinsettia]] before christmas and I was well remembered by all. much better than I deserved we had a big box of home made candy & cards from Gertrude & Addy Ballentine Florence Darling asked Mrs Barry if Doris was coming home for christmas. she was on Porter St when she was coming home from the church.

Brownie is out on the step barking for us to give him something. but there is nothing today for him. I had clam chowder two days I like it. nothing tastes as it used to. I have lost my appetite.

They say the square is trimmed up wonderfully a pung driven by reindeers with a chirstmas tree all lighted up at night Claude Darling was the one who planned it they say wish I could see it. all the houses on this street & over to Elmses were nicely illuminated & trees trimmed with different lights they looked fine I tried to find my red bulbs but could'nt so we put red tissue paper over the front room bulbs & it had the same effect.

They say Maude was staying with Bertha Upham untill she went south. then she was going to her sisters. I dont ever hear or see her. no one can do anything he drinks & am afraid always will. he's not fit for the work his father left in his hands (too bad) Ma
