Dear Folks,

We are having a showery Sabbath, the sun comes out occasionally & then it showers. very warm the Paper says rain tomorrow but hope Tuesday will be pleasant so that the Republicans will turn out in greater force.

Our roof is done & it looks fine. Kimptis is coming again to finish up a few more things about the house he fixed the bulkhead & the front steps but was coming back to paint & plain them off & clean up the shingles. Carrara said he would have everything clean he brushed out all the gutters & the chimbeny [[chimney]] is all done & it looks well. he was very careful not to mar the roof & did the chimbney [[chimney]] for $25. I paid him & he said the one over to the old place should be done, it was ready to topple at any minute, lots of the bricks have fallen already & they say the draft is very poor. it swayed terribly in the hurrycane [[hurricane]] & they sayed [[said]] they thought it would go any minute. its a pity to lay out so much money on the houses. but seems inevitable now,
