a very heavy shower this morning 4 O'clock Stoughton July 17th 1938

Dear Folks

Our shower cooled us off so yesterday & today are nice & cool days. we can take comfort in living on the whole we cant complain much about the weather. we have had so much rain that every thing looks flourishing, theres [[there's]] no need of wetting down our beds & grass & shrubs are in a healthy condition. thus far thunder showers are of daily occurances [[occurrences]] in N England they have done lots of damage.

We had company yesterday after supper. Charley & Lillian & Gladys brought Alice home from their house to Matties & I went from here up to Avon for a little ride, while Gladys stayed here with Mrs Barry & then they took her along home with them. Alice had no trouble in getting her old age pension. so now she is pretty well fixed, she gets twenty five dollars a month. she is coming to stay with me while Mrs Barry goes on her trip the 23rd of this month & will be gone two weeks. so this year she will be here during the time you are home. I hope you can rest up this time, last year you were
