It is still raining hard, guess this must be the line storm. we have almost forgotten how the sun looks, haven’t seen it for so long.  My stone will seem good to take to bed tonight. I needed it last night. Mrs Barry took her hot water bag & said it felt good. she tried to perswaid [[persuade]] me to take my warm stone. I needed it but got up & put on a blanket instead.

Myrtie was up to Stoughton yesterday she called me up on the phone from Alices & told a great tale about Mildreds folks a marriage they had in the family. she is always proud of that family, but never mentions her other two children. Alice never calls up since I asked about those books she took home. it made her mad. she will get pleased for all I care about it. they say Percy dont stand her bossing the same as he used to, since she has that Lynch there so much, he furnishes their extra money, they say theres lots of talk about it, & she don't bos [[boss]] him. a pity she had’nt married him, his wife has died. he runs a pool room in Maynard & comes here late Saturday nights loaded down with food. he wanted Alice when she lived there but Sue was opposed to her marrying a catholic they were a better match, every one pities Percy he is too good for her.

Mamie Kate is gloomy & wants to pass on, guess she is getting sick of one room & having to stay at home, she is never happy not even with the Capens. they have her pretty furnishings & guess her money to a certain extent. such is life Ma
