yesterday Mr. Turner came & took us to ride it was a beautiful sunny day we went up through the old neighborhood & then just around the pond at Fields parkway about a half hour ride then he left me at home & took her for a ride to North Easton in his sons old car & it gave out coming home in the wooded part between Easton & Stoughton away from everything & everybody but he was prepared with kit & patched up his tire & so got back after an hours delay much to their discomfiture[[discomfort]] he is a poor man & has not been able to get his car on the road yet, its to[[too]] bad for he is kindness itself & very good to us.

Laura has just gone to the hospital for her operation which will take place to day[[today]]. we called her up yesterday & she seemed very cheerful but her family feel terrible Bill came yesterday with her plants she wants me to take care of while she is gone. he left them on the step & was too sad to talk & hurried away without our knowing he was around. She is very large its a tumor.  hope she gets through it all righ[[alright]]. her blood is very poor. My digestion is very poor & those pills are the only things that will take affect[[effect]] I have been sparing of them they are so expensive but the rhubarb don't have any effect I have begun on that bottle you sent up & they will last a good long time but when you come up bring some as they are cheaper down in Washington.
