Mr Allen is beset with duties which delay him, and General Kiddoo makes such a tempting bid for him in Texas that I fear I may lose him altogether. If I can secure a competent man, will not Genl Ord appoint him also a "Citizen Agent" to explore Arkansas, and so relieve our treasury of his Salary? We can then expend the amount upon additional teachers to be located upon his recommendations through the State Supt.
Genl Kiddoo wishes me to name him such a man whom he will commission as Assistant Superintendent for the State, to travel and work under the immediate direction of the Supt.
