Little Rock Ark.

Dear Sir,
I improve this, the first favorable opportunity, presenting itself of reporting to you since leaving Little Rock. He reached Arkadelphia on Saturday and found Capt. Halbich to whom Mr. Hare reported, his house in which the school at this place is to be taught was not quite ready, but the Capt. thought he could get it ready by the first of the present week and I presume Mr. Hare began his school yesterday. Laying over at Arkadelphia on Tuesday, we found the hack which left for Washington on Monday could only carry one passenger. Dr. Wright went on, and Mr. Hazledine and myself were compelled to lay over untill Wednesday. When we too proceeded on our journey over the roughest roads I ever recollected to have seen, At Antwine twenty five miles this side of Arkadelphia we met Mr. Haskall, "Fleeing from the wrath to come." I sincerely regret that such men are ever sent from the North upon such a mission they do more harm than good, I suppose however he will tell to you his
