Expresses great interest in Freedsmens' schools is very much pleased with Thomas Howell, beloved teacher on Williams Place.  Howell's school-house burned, Howell and pupils seemed somewhat frightened but school is continued in another building provided by Mr. Williams until a new house can be built. 

Bryant has paid board of teachers of Jacksonport & furnished lumber for house.  Requests assistance in continuing the work & refunding part expenditure.
