The spelling books are just the thing, but the 2nd Readers I didn't want just now.  I report seventeen new scholars which are the result of the my getting the spelling books.  I badly want about fifty first readers, which I have been trying to get the last six months.

I congratulate yourself and Mr. Miller that Venus has smiled upon your endeavors at last, and that the war worn tempest torn region of the affections can now repose in quiet. 

"All quiet on the Arkansas."  Tell Mr. Miller we want to look upon him badly.

Mrs. S. sends regards to your ladies and yourselves and so do I in the  inverted order, i.e. to yourselves 
and ladies.
