OFFICE GENERAL SUPT. SCHOOLS.
Washington, Nov. 1st 1867

Mr. M. Colby. Esq.
Superintendent, etc,
Dear Sir:
Herewith find copy of a Teacher's Register. It is intended for schools not otherwise supplied. The object has been to make it very simple, and yet covering all the main points of a good school.
The educational associations may not adopt it, though we wish they would for the sake of unity.
Please introduce it into all destitute schools where you exercise control, and use your influence to have it thoroughly kept. By so doing, their reports to you will become uniform, and far more accurate than heretofore.
