Washington Arkansas
Feb 29 1868
Hon Wm M. Colby
Supt Education
Dear Sir,
I have the honor to transmit Monthly report of School (known as Lincoln Academy) for the month of February 1868. The attendance though not so large as anticipated is a decided gain over last Report and the pupils are of the better class. No difficulty of any kind has occurred, and the best of good feeling exists. The scarcity of money, and the bitter prejudices engendered by political strife, makes the management of the School difficult and arduous, and to me it is a source of profound congratulation that we have succeeded so well. The intellectual advancement of the classes almost without exception are quite satisfactory, and the prospect in the future looks bright.
Very Respectfully
Your Obdt Svt
David. C. Casey
