I received a notice from you requiring my report of Freedmen's school for the month of November. I herewith forward you the report, but at the same time I cannot see the consistency of requiring me to report to Mr Colby, after he refused to grant any aid to me in way of allowing rent for the use of the church in which I am teaching. Freedmen's Schools have been taught in this church ever since the place was taken by the Union Army, and yet the government has never furnished any aid to the school in way of repairs on the building or for rent, the church now needs repairs also two stoves to make it comfortable. If any aid can be furnished by the Bureau in fitting up the building I would then consider myself under obligation to cheerfully comply with any requirements of the Military Agents. Again this school is under the civil authorities
