Yellow Bayou Plantation
chicot Co. Ark. June 16, 1870.

Capt. W. M. Colby,
Little Rock, Ark.

Dear Sir,
On yesterday I received a letter from Gen. C. H. Howard of the A.M.A acknowledging my school report for May, 1870, and requesting me to forward a copy of the same to your address, which I now inclose.

I have been teaching for eight weeks, and the time for which my engagement was made, will soon expire, when I expect to return north.

No school has been taught on this place before, but the pupils are making very gratifying progress now.

A class of seven will get through the First Reader in good shape & review
