Dear Doris
After a week of exceedingly warm and sunny weather, yesterday a black cloud came up from the west and brought rain also cold temperature. so we had to turn on the heat. the thermometer dropped 20 degrees in a few minutes. today it's pleasant but continues cool, to our former weather. we cant complain though, we have been having an unusual fall. nice sunshiny warm days. I saw this cold wave coming and so took in my geraniums, what few there were outside, for fear of a freeze. the leaves are fast falling from the trees, not many have turned red. on account of such mild weather I suppose.
Mrs. O'Harra went a fishing at Newport and caught a flounder. she was so pleased that she came near tipping the boat over when he jumped her first one she ever caught her family don't like them she asked Mrs. Barry if she would like it and cleaned it nicely and brought it up to us it tasted fine. she is going to take us to ride sometime and may come this afternoon.
