Stoughton September 24th 1939

Dear Doris

Beautiful weather but dont know how long it will last. we have set the clocks back to our old day light time, it is too bad to meddle with it any way.

I am glad to know you are painting again, that seems to be your hobby. when you are painting you are not pitching into work furiously, hope you slow up now a bit, take life easier.

Lottie Crane called up yesterday & said that the firm where Mary Lynch worked had gone out of commission, so she has gone into Abington doing housework & that Legge had gone to work in Boston. I guess people are lucky these days to hold any kind of a job. Percy has been out of work a long time, but now one of his church members, a Mr Tyrrill paper hanger, is giving him work when he can. helping him to a job occasionally. they have been very good to him, hope he appreciates it. Myrtie called up to tell me they were talking of carrying Mrs Heart to N Jersey. & if they do, she will lose her job & will go to Vermont. dont know when she will get another snap like that.
