cared more for Gertrude. but Mrs Barry likes Addy they are both good girls.

[[strikethrough]] yesterday she was sick [[/strikethrough]] I had a letter from Mary French it seems she has been sick & was taken to the hospital & was on the dangerous list for 7 weeks with two nurses. Talbot & Celia his wife were on from Virginia. she did not wish to live at her age. now she is at the home hospital wher Alice was taken. She had a bladder & kidney infection & has been there nine or ten weeks & can just stand on her feet with the aid of a nurse. does not know how long she will be there or where she will go next. she wrote the letter in the hospital. I was greatly surprised, but glad to hear about where she was. as I had not seen or heard from her since two years ago just before Minnie Hunt died. she had always come here whenever she came to town. I pity Mary, she is a year younger than I am & old enough to die & this may bring it about hope so. I will write her a good long letter, as she has always wanted to keep in touch with me. we are the last of the Talbot race. I hope she dont live to suffer. its the going out we dread, she has money to pay her way & thats a good deal to be thankful for these days & theres nothing in life to look forward to, the good old days are of the past. now what is going to happen, hope for the best: Ma
